Beebe Healthcare to hold a Nurse Job Fair at Dover Downs June 17

June 16, 2014

With a growing and aging population in Delaware’s coastal communities, the demand for inpatient services at Beebe Healthcare  in Lewes has allowed for several openings for experienced nurses.

A job fair will take place from 1 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino’s Kent Room, 1131 North DuPont Highway, Dover. Full-time employment opportunities exist in the fields of women’s health, PCU, ICU, a medical-surgical unit, float pool, emergency, orthopaedic services, surgical services and cardiovascular. Candidates must have a minimum of two years' recent acute care experience.

Beebe is also seeking a part-time diabetes educator. Casual and per-diem positions also are available.

In recent years, Beebe Healthcare has received national recognition for its quality programs and its ongoing efforts to bring evidence-based medicine to southern Delaware. Process improvement initiatives are ongoing as employees and leadership focus on bringing the best-quality medical care to the communities it serves.

Beebe Healthcare is certified by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and for its hip and knee replacement surgical programs.  Consumer Reports, in its September 2013 issue, reported that Beebe was the safest place in Delaware to have surgery. A Consumer Reports survey rated 2,463 U.S. acute-care or critical-access hospitals according to how well Medicare patients 65 years of age and older fared following surgery between 2009 and 2011. The ratings considered how well hospitals avoided adverse events that led either to patients staying longer in the hospital for a procedure than expected, or to patients dying.

Beebe Healthcare has an extensive surgical program that includes cardiac, gynecologic, gastrointestinal and cancer specialties, as well as an comprehensive orthopaedic and spinal program.  Last year, more than 13,000 surgeries were performed in its 12 operating rooms. Beebe is also a Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystems Elders-designated hospital, which means that a team of nurses has specialized training to care for elderly patients.

Sign-on bonuses for nurses are being offed for full- and part-time positions: $5,000 for ICU opportunities, and $3,000 for specific inpatient units. Detailed job descriptions are available on the website, www.beebehealthcare.org.

Applicants can preregister by calling Human Resources at 302-645-3336. For more information, email the HR Department at employment@beebehealthcare.org or call the number above.

In 2013, Beebe’s Breast Health Program was granted a three-year/full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.   It is the first program in Delaware to receive a three-year accreditation. In February 2014, Beebe was the first healthcare organization in Delaware to earn the Baby-Friendly Hospital designation.

Beebe is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology and is an American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery Center of Excellence in Women’s Health.
