Robert Carlton Clifton, lifelong farmer

Robert Carlton Clifton, 85, of Milton, passed away June 11, 2014, at home, in the care of his family. He was born July 17, 1928, to William Carlton Clifton and Beatrice Hudson Clifton.

Robert was a lifelong farmer with Clifton Canning Company and RCC Farms. He was an avid builder of models, including over 400 airplanes, and many scaled models of farming equipment, and also a carver of waterfowl decoys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Argo and Nancy Rhu;, and by his grandson, Chad Clifton.

He is survived by wife of 59 years, Phyllis; by son Robert and wife Carol; granddaughter Katelin Sipe; great-granddaughter Kendall Sipe; grandson Jimmy White; son Richard and wife Terri; grandson, Ryan Clifton; Belinda Burton, beloved niece; siblings Ethel Graham of Milton, Vera Reed of Milton, Lina Carpenter of Milton, Eleanor Ritter of Milford, Carlyn Bryan of Milford and Donald Clifton of Milton.

Visitation service will be held at noon, Monday, June 16, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton followed at 1:30 p.m. by a funeral service. Interment will be at Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church in Argo's Corner.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Chad Clifton Foundation, 9397 Cods Road, Milford DE 19963.
