Delaware Bay Lighthouse Cruises start July 12

The Delaware Bay Lighthouse Keepers and Friends Association announces the following lighthouse cruise schedule:  Saturday Night Moonlight Cruises are set to depart 4:30 p.m., Saturday, July 12 and 3 p.m., Aug. 9.  Sunday Sunset Cruises leave at 4:30 p.m., July 20 and 3:30 p.m., Aug. 24.

Cruises depart Higbee's Marina in Fortescue, N.J., on the Bonanza II.  The lighthouses visited in the Delaware Bay are: Miah Maull, Cross Ledge, Elbow of Cross Ledge, Fourteen-Foot Bank and either Brandywine or Ship John (with the exception of Aug. 9 when the cruise will not go to Ship John but venture south to include Harbor of Refuge and Delaware Breakwater.  All the cruises are four hours except Aug. 9, which is five hours.  There will be a stop at each lighthouse where a former lighthouse keeper will narrate the history of that lighthouse and answer any questions.  Former members of the U.S. Coast Guard will also be on board. Cost is $40 for adults and $20 for children under 12.  For further information, contact Elma Gardner at 856-825-0123 or Darlene Rigazio, 609-884-1329.
