Elks Lodge honors Shields Elementary essay contest winners

July 2, 2014

This year’s theme for the annual Elks essay contest was What Does Veterans Day Mean to Me? Fifth-grade entries from Cape Henlopen School District provided some very heartwarming responses. Representatives from Elks Lodge 2540 in Lewes, which sponsored the local contest, visited Shields Elementary School in Lewes to congratulate its winners.

Shown are (l-r) fifth-grade teacher Amanda Archambauh, Exalted Ruler Eileen Loftus, winner Dylan Rezac, Essay Committee Chair Barbara Romspert, winner Ria Kapuria and Co-chair Barbara Havrilla. Not pictured is Emily Monigle, winner from Rehoboth Beach Elementary School.
