July 8, 2014

Dover International Speedway has announced that Patrick Long has been hired as director of event operations for the company.

Long will oversee the day-to-day operations of event services, event operations and facility rentals for the speedway, including those relating to tripleheader NASCAR race weekends, the Firefly Music Festival, Run or Dye 5K and other special events.

“Bringing someone with Pat’s background and experience to our team makes us much stronger as a company,” said Jerry Dunning, senior vice president and general manager of Dover Motorsports Inc. “As the speedway’s usage continues to grow into events beyond our traditional NASCAR race weekends, Pat will serve an essential role in helping with the execution of that growth.”

Originally from Harrisburg, Pa., Long brings an extensive operations background to the speedway, including positions such as manager of event services for the Ocean Center Convention and Entertainment Complex in Daytona Beach, Fla.; manager of event operations for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts in Hershey, Pa.; and security operations supervisor for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts in Hershey, Pa.

Along with his wife Monica and two daughters, Long will reside in Smyrna.
