John R. 'Jack' Quinn, retired technician

John R. "Jack" Quinn, 81, of Ocean View, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, June 27, 2014, at Delaware Hospice, Milford. He was born April 10, 1933, in Wilmington, son of the late Carl G. and Harriet (Esselborn) Quinn.

Mr. Quinn was a 1951 graduate of H. C. Conrad High School and served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed a 33-year career as a laboratory technician with ICI Americas Inc. After retiring, Jack was able to enjoy a round of golf whenever the opportunity arose. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on his boat, casting his rod in the bay at Indian River. Mr. Quinn also loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, Nev., and Myrtle Beach, S.C. He resided in Myrtle Beach for six years prior to returning to Delaware.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by his stepmother, Marjorie McElwee Quinn; a brother, Robert Quinn; and two sisters: Patricia Anderson and Joan Profit. He is survived by his best friend, Joan Stewart of Ocean View; one brother, Jerry Quinn and wife Mary Ellen of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three sons: John D. Quinn of Lewes, Joseph Quinn of Frankford and Scott Quinn and wife Margaret of Bear; two daughters: Katherine Quinn of Dover and Barbara Behl and husband Thomas of Claymont; six grandchildren: David, Jamie, Leah, Kelly, Chrissy and Sandy; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 11:30 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at 1 p.m., at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
