Mildred E. Welch, 78, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Seaford Center Genesis.
Mildred was born in Harrington to the late Byron and Cora Bell Kemp. She was a secretary at Delaware Power & Light in the 50s, a bookkeeper at ig Burton and the Big Wheel Truck Stop and had worked part time at James Thompson. She was best known as a homemaker; she enjoyed camping, was an avid reader, a diehard NASCAR Jeff Gordon fan and she spent many hours on the telephone keeping in touch with family. She was also known to never refuse a good cup of coffee from a donut shop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Jr. Welch; brothers, Byron Kemp and Norman Kemp; and sister Martha Poore.
She is survived by her four children, Ricky Welch and is wife Chris of Bridgeville, Sandy Sorrells and her husband Larry of Bridgeville, Vicki Welch Evans of Lewes and Susan Welch and her companion Glenn Hayman of Harrington; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Harry Kemp and Robert Kemp; sisters Thelma Stubbs and Freda LeGates.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
