Irvin A. Morey Sr., construction co. owner

Irvin A. Morey Sr., 84, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, in his home in Millsboro, beside his wife of 56 years, Joanne M. Morey (Breneman). Born March, 7, 1930, in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late William and Naomi (Wade) Morey.  Irvin served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-53.

He lived in Berks County, Pa., where he started a new home construction business in 1958, Morey Brothers Construction Co. and later retired to Millsboro.  He enjoyed participating with the Reading Coast Guard Auxiliary as well as the American Legion where he volunteered for 12 years as a van driver transporting veterans.  He also enjoyed boating, fishing & painting.

Also surviving are three sons, Irvin Jr. husband of Nancy Morey, Bret, husband of Sandy Morey, and Kent ,husband of Deb Morey.  In addition, there are five grandchildren, Angeline, wife of Takuya Tyree, Michael, husband of Jade Morey, Kevin Morey, Justin Morey and Christie Coleman. Other survivors include a brother, William; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Melson's Funeral Home, Millsboro, Monday, July 14, at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 28, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro DE 19966.
