Josephine Etta Massey, operated school bus

Josephine Etta Massey, 75, of Georgetown passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at Bayhealth Memorial Hospital in Milford.

Mrs. Massey was born to the late Harold A. and Gladys (Wells) Schirmer.

She worked for 27 years at the Stockley Center and then worked seven years at Vocational Rehab in Georgetown. She then owned and operated a school bus service for Indian River School District for 10 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved music, crafts, painting and had a great singing voice.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tony Steele and following shortly after her death, her son, Mike Steele.

She is survived by her husband Elmer T. Massey; son Allan Schirmer and his wife Nancy; daughter-in-law Lisa Steele; siblings Wayne Schirmer, Nancy Williamson, Carl Schirmer and wife Doris, Dennis Schirmer and wife Tammy, Debbie Weaver and husband Bob; grandchildren Travis Schirmer and wife Kim, Colby Steele and wife Stacey, Morgan Steele and wife Krista, Kelly Tyndall and husband Matt, and Austyn Steele; great-grandchildren Aubrey Schirmer, Ethan Schirmer, and Brayden Steele.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday July 15, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown,  where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Henlopen Memorial Park
