Michael Alden Steele, DelDOT employee

Michael Alden Steele, 52, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at home.

Mr. Steele worked for the State of Delaware Department of Transportation for 18 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking and travelling. He was also a first responder for the State of Delaware.

He was preceded in death by his brother Tony Steele; and shortly before his own death by his mother Josephine E. Massey.

He is survived by his former wife of 32 years, Lori Steele of Millsboro; his father Elmer Massey of Georgetown; daughter Austyn Steele of Millsboro; brother Allan Schirmer and his wife Nancy of Georgetown; sister–in-law Lisa Steele also of Georgetown; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; as well as a special aunt, Nancy Williamson, with whom he lived for the past six months.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday July 14, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Georgetown.
