Anne Noonan Moore, devoted to family, church

Anne Noonan Moore, 92, of Dewey Beach, passed away in her home Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was born June 22, 1922, to the late Timothy and Bertha Noonan in Wilmington, and raised in St. Anne's Parish. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1940 and maintained a lifelong friendship with those classmates.

She married John Harvey Moore Jr., June 19, 1948, and they spent 54 years together before he passed away in 2002. Anne devoted her life to her family, her church, and her community. In addition to her own four children, she and Harvey were foster parents to 23 infants over 12 years through Catholic Charities of Wilmington. She spent many years as a volunteer at Casa San Francisco in Milton.

Anne began spending summers in Dewey Beach in 1934 and became a full-time resident in 1982. She loved the ocean and the beach and would spend as much time as possible there. She was an active member of St. Edmond Catholic Church and the Sodality.

Anne was preceded in death by sons Timothy and James Patrick, and grandson Matthew. Anne is survived by her two daughters: Elizabeth Noonan Moore of Milford and Maryanne Moore and husband Jackson of Austin, Texas; two daughters-in-law: Sarah R. Moore of Lewes and Frances Moore Kijak and husband John of Conshohocken, Pa.; four grandchildren: Amy Elizabeth Moore, Kate Krajewski and husband Ron, Thomas Harper and James Harper; and five great-grandchildren: Sarah, Anna, Beth, Megan and Austin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.. Interment will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Memorial contributions may be made in Anne's memory to Casa San Francisco Center, P.O. Box 38, 127 Broad St., Milton, DE 19968, or St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Edmond Catholic Church, P.O. Box 646, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
