Luciel 'Lucy' Benson, Nanticoke member

Mrs. Luciel “Lucy” S. Benson, 55, of Bear, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.

Mrs. Benson was born Jan. 4, 1959, in Lewes to the late Everett Street and Gladys Johnson Street who survives her. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lester E. Benson in 2011; and her brother Ricky Street.

She was a lifelong resident of Delaware and a member of the Nanticoke Indian Association. She was a Girl Scout leader when her daughter was young. She did volunteer work at the Stockley Center. Lucy liked crafts, music, shopping and jewelry. She was a strong willed woman who was very giving. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, LaTonya Benson and her husband John “Cliff” Moon; a brother, Garciel Street; two grandchildren, Ricky and Cliff Moon; special friends, Thomasina, Summer, Alijah, Angelina, Brad, Charles and Alice. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Israel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
