July 18, 2014

Two men face charges after police say they stole items from parked cars throughout the Rehoboth Beach area.

Police first arrested Stephen Holston, 20, of Rehoboth Beach on June 30 when someone called about a suspicious person in the area of Jones Lane at 4:39 a.m., said Chief Keith Banks, spokesman for the Rehoboth Beach Police Department.

Holston admitted to several thefts; he originally was charged with theft from a senior and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $9,000 cash. On July 3, he pleaded guilty to theft under $1,500 and was released on probation.

On July 13, police arrested Bradley Brown, 20, of Seaford, who admitted to stealing from cars with Holston, Banks said. Police searched Brown's car and found several stolen items along with a flat-screen television and a Bose radio.

Brown was charged with six counts of theft under $1,500, five counts of theft under $1,500 from a senior, 10 counts of third-degree criminal trespass, 11 counts of third-degree conspiracy and other traffic and drug charges. He was released on $17,500 unsecured bail.

On July 17, police again arrested Holston and charged him with six counts of theft under $1,500 from a senior, four counts of theft under $1,500, 11 counts of third-degree criminal trespass and 11 counts of third-degree conspiracy. Holston was committed to SCI on $25,000 secured bond.
