FSDA introduces new staff at Aug. 25 open house

August 1, 2014

First State Dance Academy in Milford announces two additions to its staff - Jeovanie Fernandez and Nicolle Leeuwen. The public is invited to meet them and other members of FSDA at an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 25, at 107 Maple Ave. in Milford.

Joining FSDA as a hip-hop instructor, Fernandez started dancing with the Aberdeen Dance Company, a competitive dance group winning eight national championship titles in styles such as jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and variety style categories. He has been training for the past two years in ballet, lyrical and jazz with FSDA’s staff and over five years in hip-hop and variety. Fernandez hopes to pursue a dance degree and to have his own studio one day. His goal is to bring out the best he can in each individual dance student while sharing his passion for dance with them.

Leeuwen will specialize in creative movement. She started dancing at the age of 5, and has danced under the instruction of Diane Drulis, Daniel Kaiser, Kelly Millar, Michelle Parisi, Maria Fry, and Michele Xiques. She has been a member of Delaware Ballet and Diamond Dance Company during her dance career and has performed in New York City Dance Alliance competitions and in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parades. Leeuwen continues her studies in ballet and tap at First State Dance Academy as she joins its staff.

First State Dance Academy offers classes for students 2 1/2 years old up to adults. Visit www.firststatedance.com or call 302-422-2633 for more information.
