Allan J. Miers, computer guru

Allan J. Miers, 68, of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Kingston, Pa., May 26, 1946, son of the late James and Vivian (Allen) Miers.

Allan was a 1964 graduate of Christiana High School. Following graduation he proudly served with the U.S. Navy from October 1965 to October 1969. Allan enjoyed a 40-year career as a material handling engineer with Chrysler Assembly Plant in Newark and Detroit, Mich., retiring in 2006.

He loved playing a round of golf with friends or tinkering with computers. If you had a computer problem, Allan could usually fix it. He recently rescued his canine companion, Coco, whom he dearly loved. Allan and Coco could be seen walking in their community numerous times a day, which brought him so much joy.

Allan is survived by two sisters: Dorothy Patton and husband Carlton of Kentucky and Linda Cavanaugh and husband George of Newark; three nephews: Byron, Miles and Michael; three nieces: Amy, Michelle and Marie and his loving canine companion, Coco.

He will be missed by neighbors and friends.

All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware SPCA, Georgetown Shelter, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
