July 29, 2014

Jay Jenkins, a former all-state player at Caravel Academy, was named Cape's new head coach of boys' soccer at the July 24 Cape school board meeting.

Jenkins, 47, has an impressive resumé as a player, having trained with the U.S. National Team in 1990, and as a youth, he was a member of the Olympic Development Program. Jenkins tallied 64 career goals while at Caravel. He played in the NPSL professional indoor league and played five seasons with the Cleveland Crunch and Canton Invaders.

Jenkins has been active in coaching with the Henlopen Soccer Club and in 2013 took the U16 Barracudas to the State Cup Finals.
