Woman charged after leaving child at McDonald's

July 28, 2014

A 44-year-old woman was charged July 24 after police say she left her child at a McDonald's playground in Lewes.

Susanne M. Shipe of Lewes left her daughter, 6, at a play area in McDonald's at Route 1 and Route 24, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

The father of the girl called police at 8:30 p.m. after someone at the restaurant called him to let him know Shipe had left the girl there, Fournier said.

Police found the mother driving near Camp Arrowhead Road. They charged her with endangering the welfare of a child and released her on $500 unsecured bond.

The child was uninjured.
