Markert deserves strong support Aug. 9

August 1, 2014

The City of Rehoboth Beach needs responsible, intelligent commissioners to guide the business of the city. Francis "Bunky" Markert is just such a person, and we should elect him as our commissioner August 9. Markert is a bright, involved citizen, who has served the city well in his five years as a planning commissioner.

The most urgent need of the city is to ensure smart land use in the city, and his experience on the planning commission makes him uniquely qualified to serve as a city commissioner. Bunky (as his friends call him) has a deep background in accounting and finance and will keep the business of the city in the front of his mind and help the mayor and commissioners manage our well run city budget.

Bunky not only believes in good communication with the citizens of the city, but has already established a mechanism for all his neighbors in the Schoolvue neighborhood to exchange information and ideas. He has advocated for a full time city information officer to ensure that all of us are informed of all the important issues of the city.

Smart, informed, experienced and proactive - these are the qualifications we want in anyone who serves the voters of this city. These are the qualities Francis "Bunky" Markert will bring to the city commission, and he deserves the vote of every concerned citizen August 9.
