Lewes Ferry Legacy Brick Pavers available through Aug. 8

August 6, 2014

Cape May-Lewes Ferry officials announced the 50th Anniversary commemorative laser-engraved bricks are still for sale, but only a few days remain for customers to order bricks during this second phase. Brick reservations continue through Friday, Aug. 8. The second phase will be installed in late September or early October.

“Our legacy brick program has been a resounding success,” said Heath Gehrke, director of ferry operations. “It’s great to observe our fans and customers come to the terminal to see where their bricks are located within the commemorative brick patio. We wanted everyone who wanted to purchase a brick to be able to do so in this second phase.”

Gehrke added that the legacy bricks have been used in a variety of ways. “We’ve received brick orders containing birthday wishes, remembering a great family vacation at the shore and one even had a marriage proposal!” Gehrke said. Other personalized brick messages include happy anniversary wishes, memories of a loved one, or in honor of great employees.

The first phase of the legacy bricks were installed in a decorative pattern at the entrance of both ferry terminals on the 50th Anniversary weekend of the ferry, June 28-29.

The bricks are available in one standard size. The 4-by-8-inch brick will cost $50, and purchasers will have the opportunity to personalize. The bricks have a three-line capacity for text, with a maximum of 20 characters per line including spaces and punctuation. In addition, replica and mini-bricks can be purchased as family keepsakes for $50 and $15 respectively.

Corporate brick sponsorships are also available using an array of two or four  4-by-8-inch standard bricks at a cost. For more information on the commemorative brick program or to order personalized legacy bricks, go to www.CMLF.com or call toll free 800-64-FERRY.
