Eunice Iona Baker, never met a stranger

Eunice Iona Baker, 92, of Ocean City, Md., passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. She was born in Cambridge, Md., Oct. 29, 1921, daughter of the late Wilbert S. and Nellie J. (Bramble) Dean.

During her early years Mrs. Baker was very active helping her children with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She loved living in Ocean City, and enjoyed cracking a few blue crabs any time of day with friends and family. Mrs. Baker enjoyed sitting on her front porch people watching and engaging in occasional conversation with those passing by. She was a woman who never met a stranger, always making everyone she met feel like an old friend.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, William George Baker Sr. in 1981. She is survived by two sons: Bill Baker and his companion Barbara Rosensteel of Ocean City, and Ron Baker and wife Ruth Ann of Milton; three daughters: Beverly Baker Hynson of Montpelier, Va., Deborah Baker and fiance Court Allen of Darlington, Md. and Tracey O'Brien and husband Kevin of Bellevue, Wash.; one sister, Delores Patilla of Delmar, Md.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, 2604 Old Ocean City Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
