Eddie R. Berger, mayor of Gulls Way

Eddie R. Berger, 70, of Wernersville, Pa. and Dagsboro passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday, Aug. 8, 2014. at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

He was born in Danville, Pa., June 8, 1944, son of the late Edwin and Priscilla (Lupold) Berger. Eddie retired as a foreman for the Lentz Milling Co. in Reading, Pa. in 1999.

After his retirement, Eddie spent his summers at Gulls Way Campground in Dagsboro, where he was known as the mayor of the campground. He also enjoyed hunting, deep-sea fishing, spending time with his family and riding his golf cart throughout the campground.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna (Vought) Berger; a daughter, Tammy Berger Yacobowsky and her husband Paul of Sinking Spring, Pa.; a son, Heath Berger and his wife Crystal (Keith) Berger of Robesonia, Pa.; and three granddaughters, Grace and Hope Yacobowsky and Payton Berger.

The Berger family would also like to thank all the nurses and volunteers at Delaware Hospice and the Cropper family for all their help and support during Eddie’s illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 15, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends and family may gather from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private. The family suggests casual attire.
