Steve Twilley named executive director at Lewes Senior Center

The Lewes Senior Center has named Steve Twilley as its new executive director, effective Aug. 1.

Twilley has an extensive background in nonprofit organizational management including positions as chief operating officer of Delmarva Rural Ministries and as executive director of the Sussex County AIDS Council in Rehoboth Beach 2000-09. More recently, Twilley was the statewide manager of Catholic Charities’ Basic Needs programs in Delaware.

“We are pleased to welcome Steve to the Lewes Senior Center,” said John Workman, president of the board of directors. “With his wealth of experience in nonprofit management and his passion for serving others, we look forward to building upon the center’s scope of programming and the fun that our members share.”

“I am so pleased to join such a fine organization with such wonderful people,” Twilley said. “The Lewes Senior Center has a strong history and a very bright future of meeting the needs and interests of active older adults in the beach communities. I look forward to building upon that history of service and fun, and contributing to the center’s continued success.”

The Lewes Senior Center at 32083 Janice Road in Lewes, offers a broad range of programs including aerobics, tai chi, yoga, dancing, ceramics and crafts, computer assistance and classes, health screenings and referrals, elder law, Medicare and insurance information, events including jackpot bingo on Tuesday evenings and group trips.
