A Milton man was charged with assault after police say he fought with a 63-year-old man and then an officer who responded to the scene.
Police were called to a home at 100 Nellie Drive at 8:23 p.m. Aug. 8 for a report of a physical domestic dispute, said Capt. John Cornwell of the Milton Police Department.
Police say Brian Kaczala took a phone from the 63-year-old man who was calling 9-1-1, and Kaczala threw the phone on the floor.
Kaczala then kicked an officer in the knee during his arrest, Cornwell said.
Kaczala was charged with second-degree assault of a victim over 62 years of age, second-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest with force, failure to comply with photo/fingerprints, malicious interference with emergency communications, and criminal mischief.
Kaczala was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $13,500 secured bond.
The officer was treated and released from Beebe Healthcare with a sprained knee; no information was available on the 63-year-old man.
