Republican Women to host state treasurer debate Aug. 26

All questions to be submitted on cards

A debate between Kenneth Simpler and Cheryl A. Valenzuela, the two Republican candidates for the seat of Delaware State Treasurer, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 7 p.m., at the CHEER Community Center, 20620 Sand Hill Road, Georgetown.

The public is invited to attend and everyone is encouraged to arrive between 6:15 and 6:45 p.m., when there will be an opportunity to write questions on cards to be submitted for the candidates' response. All questions from the public will be submitted to the candidates via these cards. Attendees are advised to arrive early for doors will be closed promptly at 7 p.m.

The Sussex County Republican Women's Club is hosting the debate which has been accepted by both candidates, in collaboration with The 38th District Republican Club, Baywood Independent Republican Club, Eastern Sussex Republican Club, The Frederick Douglass Foundation of Delaware Sussex County Chapter and The Republicans For Sussex.

The event will be moderated by SCRWC President Alana Keeley who said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Sussex County to get to know their candidates for State Treasurer and make an informed decision on election day. We encourage all attending the debate to arrive a little early since deadline to submit questions for the candidates is 6:45 p.m.”
