Norris A. Bryan, 74, of Seaford, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014.
Norris was born in Laurel, the son of the late Raymond and Lulu (Dukes) Bryan.
He was a heavy equipment operator with David G. Horsey and Sons for 24 years, retiring in 2014. He had previously worked with the Soil Conservation Service for several years and Melvin L. Joseph Construction for 27 years.
Norris was a member of Concord U.M. Church, Seaford Moose Lodge 1728, and American Legion Post 8. He enjoyed bowling, but especially stock car racing and drove the pace car at Delaware International Speedway in Delmar for over 30 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ina Marie Wootten Bryan; a son, Aubrey Bryan; a daughter, Carla Jones; brothers Reese and Raymond Bryan; his mother-in-law, Margaret Wootten, and a stepsister, Elva Daisey.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patsy (Elliott) Bryan; three children, Kevin Bryan, Deneen Kelleher and her husband Mark, all of Laurel, and Darren Bryan, of Millsboro; two stepsons, Charles Campbell-King and his husband Stephen Campbell-King of Middletown and Chris King and wife Kathy of Newark; two sons-in-laws, Art Jones, of Salisbury, Md. and Douglas Lewis Jr. of Laurel; a brother, Gene Bryan and wife Laura, of Seaford; and two sisters, Frances Peek and husband Norris, of Berlin, Md. and Debra Long and husband Rick also of Seaford; sister-in-law Mary Ann Bryan of Seaford; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held privately. Fellowship and dessert will be at Grace Church in Georgetown, Sunday, following the services.
