For its birthday, Save Our Lakes Alliance3 in Rehoboth Beach received a gift 10 years in the making.
State Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes and Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, sponsored a historical designation for Silver Lake and Lake Comegys, with a marker to be placed recognizing SOLA3’s role in protecting Rehoboth’s three lakes, which also includes Lake Gerar.
The historical marker will be formally dedicated at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 25, on Silver Lake Drive, in the same area where SOLA3 has staged its annual lake cleanup since 2006.
SOLA3 celebrated its 10th anniversary with a party at the home of John and Bryn Burke.
Shown are (l-r) host John Burke, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary David Small, SOLA3 founder and president Sallie Forman, Forman’s husband Jonah Gitlitz, SOLA3 director Tom Childers and SOLA3 secretary Toni Sharp.
