Milton Fire Department thanks Irish Eyes

August 28, 2014

We are writing this letter to say thank you to Irish Eyes for organizing one of the growing assets of our Milton community, the Milton St. Patrick's Day Parade Association. In 2008, the Milton St. Patrick's Day Parade begun as a relatively humble event, yet not lacking in fun and festivity. The event originated by, and continues to be driven by, Irish Eyes. It has grown into a family favorite in not only Milton, but throughout lower Delaware. The amount of spectators and community support have grown tremendously since the first year and they continue to grow.

The Milton Fire Department Inc. has been a beneficiary, among other worthy causes, of this event for seven consecutive years, receiving a total donated amount of $20,247.48, including $5,000 this past year! With the continued generosity of the Milton St. Patrick's Day Parade Association, supporting businesses, and community, we have made many improvements within our department.

We have been able to supplement equipment purchases, fund educational programs for training new members, and support our fire prevention programs. We cannot thank the association enough for their support. The work done by the parade association is worthy of recognition and thanks.

The association holds year round committee meetings to plan for the success of this annual community event. The Milton St. Patrick's Day parade brings thousands of spectators to Milton to enjoy the day's festivities.

This event is not limited to supporting our volunteer firefighting organization, but is also beneficial to several other local organizations such as Casa San Francisco, Milton Chamber of Commerce, and The Best Buddies Program in conjunction with Cape Henlopen High School. Each has benefitted from the parade's success and the parade associations continued generosity.

The membership of the Milton Fire Department Inc. extends its sincere appreciation and says thank you to Irish Eyes and the Milton St. Patrick's Day Parade Association. We look forward to seeing everyone Wednesday, Dec. 3, for the Milton Christmas Parade, and March 8, 2015, for next year's St. Patrick’s Day Parade and festivities.
