Cape Henlopen school board meets Aug. 28

The Cape Henlopen school board will hold its regular meet­ing at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, in the cafeteria of Mariner Middle School. The board will discuss the preliminary bud­get for the 2015 fiscal year and also receive updates on the high school’s iPad initiative and the new elementary school.

Workshop set Aug. 26 for water fund projects

DNREC’s Financial Assis­tance Branch and the Division of Health’s Office of Drinking Water will jointly host a State Revolving Loan Fund Workshop in prepa­ration for the development of Clean Water and Drinking Water FY2014 Revised Project Prior­ity Lists. The workshop aims to inform and provide municipal government representatives, pri­vately owned wastewater and drinking water utility personnel, consultant engineers, and other interested parties with detailed overviews of the CWSRF and DWSRF programs.

The workshop will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Delaware Technical Community College, Owens Campus, William Carter Partnership Center, Georgetown, Room 540 A&B; 10 a.m. to noon.

Notices-of-Intent (NOI) for wastewater, drinking water, stormwater, and related infrastructure projects will be solicited starting Sept. 1, and are due by Sept. 30 to prepare the Revised FY2014 CWSRF and CWSRF project priority lists. Projects must be listed on the CWSRF and DWSRF priority lists, respectively, to be considered for funding.

Attendance at the workshop is required by applicants and their consulting firms that plan to apply for CWSRF and DWSRF assistance. RSVP by contacting Laura Rafferty of DNREC’s Financial Assistance Branch at Laura.Rafferty@State.de.us or 302-739-9941.

Dewey candidates forum set Aug. 23

The Dewey Beach Civic League will be hosting a can­didates forum for the 2014 municipal election at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Dewey Beach Lions Club, 115 McKinley Ave. The filing deadline for the election was Aug. 21, and the election will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, if at least three candidates file.

Workshop set for Route 24 projects Aug. 27

The Delaware Department of Transportation invites the pub­lic to attend a public workshop to learn about and to discuss improvements to Route 24 be­tween Mount Joy Road and Bay Farm Road. DelDOT identified Route 24 as a high-crash location as part of the Highway Safe­ty Improvement Program. For Route 24 at Mount Joy Road, DelDOT proposes to widen the northbound and southbound approaches to provide sepa­rate left-turn, pass-through, and right-turn lanes.

DelDOT also proposes to extend the left-turn lane and right-turn lanes on all approaches to meet storage requirements. For Route 24 at Bay Farm Road, DelDOT pro­poses to widen the northbound and southbound approaches to provide separate left-turn, pass­through, and right-turn lanes.

DelDOT also proposes to widen the westbound SR 24 approaches to provide a separate left-turn, pass-through, and right-turn lanes as well as extend the left­turn and right-turn lanes on all approaches to meet storage re­quirements. Attendees will have an opportunity to review display materials and provide comments to the DelDOT representatives.

Residents may attend the workshop at any time between 4 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Millsboro Town Center.

Interested persons are invited to express their views in writing, giving reasons for support of or in opposition to the proposed project. DelDOT sets workshop on Route 113 project

The Delaware Department of Transportation invites the pub­lic to attend a public workshop to learn about and to discuss a project that will install a second eastbound right-turn lane along Route 404/Route 18 at U.S. 113 in Georgetown.

The project will signalize the eastbound Route 404/18 right-turning movement, while providing an overlap phase and allowing right turns on red from the rightmost right-turn lane. Pedestrian facilities will be upgraded, extending the side­walk connecting with DelTech campus and improving cross­walks at the intersection with U.S. 113.

Attendees will have an opportunity to review display materials and provide comments to the DelDOT representatives. Residents may attend the work­shop at any time between 4 and 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug, 26 at the DelDOT South District Office, 23697 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown.

Sussex County Council takes summer break

Sussex County Council will take its annual summer break and not meet Tuesday, Aug. 26, or Tuesday, Sept. 2. The next regularly scheduled meeting is at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Rehoboth committee to meet Aug. 22

The Rehoboth Beach Com­munications Committee will meet at 9 a.m., Friday, Aug. 22, in the city commissioners’ room to report on the status of the city website overhaul. The committee will also discuss implementing a program to provide welcome letters to new property owners and businesses, and expanding the online accessibility of sup­port documents to be discussed at city meetings.

Rehoboth committee cancels meeting

The Rehoboth Beach Parks and Shade Tree Commission has cancelled its Monday, Aug. 25 regular meeting. The meeting was cancelled due to a lack of agenda items.
