Landon honored with Good Neighbor Award

Suzanne Landon, a realtor with Jack Lingo, Realtor, was recently honored with the 2014 Sussex County Association of Realtors Good Neighbor Award. Landon was selected for her dedication and support to the Cancer Support Community of Delaware.

As a cancer survivor herself who personally benefitted from the support community, Landon was motivated to have the Cancer Support Community of Delaware expand and open its doors in Sussex County. "It was my turn to give back to an organization which had given so much to me. I assisted with fundraising, and I was honored with the invitation to chair the Sussex County Cancer Support Community Advisory Committee and to sit on the state board. It has been my mission to raise funds so anyone affected by cancer in Sussex County will have a place to go for much-needed emotional support," she said.

Jo Allegro-Smith, director of Sussex County Cancer Support Center, said, "Suzanne is more than a volunteer who raises money for our organization, although she does that very well. Our programs wouldn't exist if it was not for Suzanne as a fundraiser and advocate. As a cancer survivor, she has a deep understanding of what it's like to hear 'You have cancer.'  She has passion to help those who have cancer and dedicates so much of her personal time and personal resources. Suzanne is an awesome lady, and this award is so well deserved. It wonderful to see Suzanne recognized for all she has done for our community."
