William Allen Toomey, 45, of Millsboro, took his final journey home Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, to be with his mother who preceded him in death in 2006.

William loved antiquing and wood crafting out in his shop. He loved life and all the ones in his life. To know him was to love him.

William is survived by his niece Kelly Baker; and his great-niece Makenzi Alm, who, in his words, made his life complete. He is also survived by his father, Charles Toomey Sr. who resided with him; four siblings, Cassandra Webb of Showell, Md., Charles Toomey Jr. of Millsboro, Crystal Lewis of Millville and James Toomey of Jacksonville, Fla. William is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He also had an extended group of close friends in the gay community which he also considered his family.

A visitation will begin at noon, Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro. A celebration his life will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately in Millsboro Cemetery.
