Mary Alice Walsen, Dewey business owner

Mary Alice Walsen, 79, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Windom, Minn., daughter of the late Arthur Haskins and Martha (Onken) Miller.

Ms. Walsen proudly owned and operated with her family the Texas Long Dog and The Hard Shell in Dewey Beach for many years. She also found great joy in working as a homecare provider for the elderly. Whenever time permitted, Ms. Walsen enjoyed playing a round of golf. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a great friend who will be missed dearly.

Ms. Walsen is survived by her four sons: Glenn Geesaman and his wife Gail of Milford, Kenneth Geesaman and his wife Noreen of Penfield, N.Y., Dennis Geesaman and his fiancé Kordy Moore of Georgetown and Ronnie Geesaman of Lewes; her grandson, Dennis Geesaman Jr.; three granddaughters; and two sisters, Lucille Amarantes of Belmont, Calif. and Jeanne Silva of Patterson, Calif.

All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
