August 27, 2014

A Georgetown man faces charges after police say they found him passed out on a woman's bed with several pairs of her underwear in his lap.

A woman returned home at 5:41 p.m. Aug. 26 to her apartment in the 100 block of North Race Street and found Miguel Mercado, 33, of Georgetown passed out in her bed, said Lt. Lawrence Grose of the Georgetown Police Department.

Grose said Mercado had several pairs of the woman's underwear bunched up in his lap, his zipper was down and he was exposed.

When police arrived, Grose said, they detected alcohol on Mercado's breath; he gave them a false name, but was taken into custody with no further incident.

Police charged Mercado with first-degree criminal trespass and criminal impersonation. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $5,000 secured bond. Immigration officials placed an immigration detainer on Mercado to determine his status, Grose said.
