August 27, 2014

Otis G. Webb of Milford passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Monday, Aug. 25, 2014.

Otis was born in Redden July 16, 1921, son of the late Horace and Ida O'Day Webb. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 8th Division, 445th Anti Aircraft Artillery, which landed in Normandy and also took part in The Battle of The Bulge. He enjoyed meeting with his fellow veterans on a regular monthly basis for many years.

Otis was raised in Ellendale and moved to Milford in 1942 after his marriage to Marie Walls. Mr. Webb was a Sealtest Milk distributor for many years before opening Webb Tire and Bike Shop, which he owned and operated until retirement. He was a member of Endeavor Masonic Lodge 17 in Milton, a past commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 12-3, a founding member of the Shawnee Country Club in Milford, an avid fan of University of Delaware football for over 40 years, and a long time member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Milford.

Otis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a generous, kind hearted man always ready to help those less fortunate. His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his caregivers: his granddaughter, Effie; Carla, Connie, Mitchell and Alice, and special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice, especially his nurse Barbara.

In addition to his parents, Otis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie in 2012. He is survived by his daughters, Gaye W. Morgan and husband Calvert of Greenville and Jana M. Hood and husband Vernon "Buzzy" of Harrington; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 10 a.m. A reception will be held at the church fellowship hall following the burial with military honors in the Milford Community Cemetery on N. Walnut Street.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S. E. Front St., Milford, DE, 19963, or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 201 E. DuPont Blvd., Millsboro, DE, 19966. Arrangements handled by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
