Submit entries by Oct. 8 for Food Glorious Food art show

Exhibit runs Oct. 15-Dec. 4 as celebration of church's Food Ministry

Epworth United Methodist Church is seeking artists' entries for Food Glorious Food, a new show in Scott’s Chapel Gallery, which will hang from Oct. 15 to Dec. 4. The exhibit will be one of several special events in October in which Epworth UMC will be celebrating its Food Ministry.

An opening reception for Food Glorious Food will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24. The show is open to all.  Appetizers will be provided by local restaurants.   Displays and information will be provided to highlight the food ministries at Epworth including Miriam’s Table, Emmanuel’s Table and Faith.

Application requirements are listed below.  Application submission date is Oct. 8. Applications may be submitted electronically to Strum at jcdstr@msn.com or by mail to Jerry Strum, Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

All work must be original and created by the exhibiting artist. Each piece must represent the artist’s interpretation of the theme, Food Glorious Food, and labeled with the artist's statement of explanation.  Pieces may be for sale or not, but must be tagged accordingly. Work may not have been exhibited at Epworth previously.

Each artist is permitted to submit one piece ready to hang on wire (no sawtooth hangers), framed or gallery wrapped, finished edges (no staples showing) and no larger than 24-by-24 inches including the frame.  Any three-dimensional piece must be small to medium in scale. No giclée prints are permitted.

There is a $10 entry fee.  Checks should be made out to Epworth United Methodist Church with Scott’s Gallery Entry Fee in the memo line.There is no gallery percentage of sale taken for works sold; however, a donation to the church is suggested.

Epworth celebrates Food Ministry

The exhibit will occur in conjunction with Epworth United Methodist Church's celebration of its Food Ministry. Food and Faith classes will once again be held at 5 p.m., Wednesdays, Oct. 1, 8, 15, and 22, with a simple meal of bread and soup. The kitchen crew will take a few minutes to tell those attending how the soups were created.

Classes will be from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. on a wide variety of topics including  Bible 101; Hand Bells 101; The Parables and Teaching of Jesus; What It Means To be United Methodist; Food in Sussex County; Everything Financial; and Christian Philosophy, Arts, and Music
