John E. Harrell, VFW member

John E. Harrell, 85, of Milton, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He had resided in Milton for the past 15 years, but was originally from Baltimore, Md.

Mr. Harrell was born in Reading, Pa. March 14, 1929, son of the late Arthur Cleveland Harrell and Mary Helen Kilgariff. Mr. Harrell was an Army veteran as well as a lifetime member of the VFW, specifically in Millsboro. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, enjoyed fishing, and appreciated all kinds of boats. The Baltimore Ravens and Orioles were two of his favorite sports teams.

Mr. Harrell is survived by his loving wife, June Harrell; two children, Sandra Fiedler (Texas) and Patricia Thomas (Texas); one sister, Frances Harrell (Ocean Pines, Md.); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A viewing where friends and family may call will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 4, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton. Interment with military honors will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro.
