New cycling event highlights best of Sussex Sep. 13

Cyclists will take to county roads during the first Tour de Sussex Saturday, Sept. 13, starting at Delaware Technical Community College on Route 404 in Georgetown.

Riders can choose to ride 25, 62 or 100 miles. Cyclists on the longer routes will experience Cape Henlopen State Park and the new Gordons Pond Trail.Century riders will ride the length of the coast along Route 1 to Fenwick Island and cross the county back to Trap Pond State Park near Laurel.

All routes end back at the college.

Registration information is available at dtcc.edu. Registration includes a T-shirt, lunch, drink tickets and refreshments at rest stops. Local rest stops include Dogfish Head in Milton and Irish Eyes in Lewes. Check-in and registration begin at 7 a.m.
