Delmarva dealers to participate in Rehoboth antiques show Sept. 11-13

September 4, 2009

The 13th Annual Delaware Coast Antiques Show scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Sept. 11-13, will feature 35 selected exhibitors this year, offering a variety of 18th- and 19th-century American and English, period and country furniture and accessories, including fine early china and glassware, Oriental carpets, Chinese export porcelain, beautiful antique jewelry and more.

Exhibitors travel from as far as Florida for the yearly event, managed by noted show promoter Melvin Arion. The exhibitor list also includes a number of local dealers including John Chaski of Camden, and Charlene Upham of Mardela Springs, Md.

Delaware antiques are especially popular with Delaware collectors, and this year Chaski’s offerings will include several exciting, fresh-to-the-market Delaware objects. A silver cream jug made by Wilmington silversmith Thomas Byrnes, circa 1795, is among Chaski’s most recent finds. He will also offer several Delaware and Brandywine Valley paintings, including a mixed-media work by John McCoy, and an oil-on-canvas illustration by Stanley Arthurs. More information is available at johnchaski.com.

Charlene Upham carries a wide range of merchandise but has several specialties. This year her booth will feature a very large assortment of antique sterling silver including flatware sets, large serving pieces, and hollowware, including rare forms in the ever-popular Stieff Rose pattern. Upham will also show a selection of Mission furniture, including pieces by famous makers such as Stickley and Limbert. Related Mission decorative arts will also be offered, including art pottery and metalware.

The show is held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. Admission is $6 per person.
