Original art set for auction at Rehoboth Veg Fest preview party April 30

April 26, 2015

Rehoboth Beach VegFest organizers have announced artist Dana Ellyn will be the featured guest artist at Rehoboth Beach VegFest 2015.

In advance of Rehoboth VegFest, and to help support the community-wide event, Ellyn has created one original piece that will be auctioned off at the Rehoboth VegFest preview party and fundraiser. The preview party is set for 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at Rose and Crown in Lewes. The public is invited to attend. For more information and and advance online bidding for the specially commissioned painting, go to www.RehobothVegFest.org.

Ellyn’s special opening exhibition takes place from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, June 13, at the Rehoboth VegFest evening art exhibition at Gallery 50 Contemporary Art. The evening art exhibition features a meet and greet where visitors can meet and mingle with the artist and explore her bold, provocative work. Ellyn’s eye-grabbing, edgy images tackle important social issues, in ways irreverent to humorous. Brilliantly colored paintings capture the imagination, pose questions and encourage the viewer to reflect about a wide range of social issues, including their own food choices.

"I'm super-excited to be coming for this event," says Ellyn, who spent a summer in Rehoboth Beach in the 1990s. "And I look forward to expanding the audience for my vegan-themed and other work to the great folks of Rehoboth."

Gallery 50 manager and master framer Ed McGann says, "We're happy to be bringing Dana Ellyn to Rehoboth Beach VegFest. Dana's work really captures people's imagination and makes them ponder. This is going to be a lot of fun." Vegan appetizers will be served at the evening art exhibition, thanks to the generosity of Executive Chef Gretchen Hanson of Hobos Restaurant and Bar. Gallery 50 Contemporary Art is at 50 Wilmington Ave. in downtown Rehoboth Beach.
