Rehoboth sidewalk sale set May 16-18
The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce announced its 25th annual spring sidewalk sale will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 16, through Sunday, May 18; store hours may vary. Shops in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach and along Route 1 will offer a variety of merchandise at clearance prices. Photography studio to cut ribbon May 16
The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Carolyn Watson Photography at 4 p.m., Friday, May 16. The new studio is located at 720 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Owners Carolyn Watson and Ginny Stominski are ready to open the doors to their new full-service portrait studio, which specializes in portraiture for families, babies, seniors, in-studio and on location, weddings, commitment ceremonies, special events and commercial photography. The studio features multiple shooting areas, a state-of-the-art backdrop system, a private viewing area with a home-theater atmosphere and a beach. Genworth Life offers long-term care policies
The American Association of Retired Persons announced a new relationship with Genworth Life Insurance Co. in 2007 to provide unique long-term care planning solutions designed to meet the needs of the organization’s 39 million members. Kenneth Dalzell, who specializes in long-term care insurance, is now authorized to offer association-endorsed long-term care policies in Delaware and Maryland. Georgetown chamber to meet for breakfast May 14 at CHEER Center
The Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce informational breakfast will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the Georgetown CHEER Center. Peter Frikker of the Delmarva Shorebirds will discuss plans for Georgetown Day at a Shorebirds game. Tickets for the game, scheduled for Sunday, June 22, will be available. Beach To Bay Real Estate Center expands
Maggie Fiorio and Jim McGregor recently joined the Beach To Bay Real Estate Center team, and Vera Bailey has been named the new marketing and advertising coordinator. Plans to extend the current building and increase the number of parking spaces have been formulated. Jennifer Langley is new intern at GMB
James R. Thomas Jr., P.E., president/CEO of George, Miles & Buhr LLC recently announced Jennifer Langley has joined the firm as a marketing intern in the Salisbury, Md. office. She will graduate from Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business in May.

Mountain Mudd sales to support Habitat for Humanity May 14
Those getting their daily jolt of caffeine Wednesday, May 14, at Mountain Mudd Espresso will benefit Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. Mountain Mudd Espresso will donate 10 percent of proceeds from all coffee and refreshments and $10 from the purchase of each Pay Day card sale to Sussex Habitat to help further the mission of providing affordable housing to families in need in Sussex County. The participating Mountain Mudd locations are Millsboro, Long Neck and Georgetown. Customers may stop by between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. There will also be information about Sussex Habitat available at those locations if customers are interested in volunteering or becoming more involved in opportunities with Habitat. DART online store offers a variety of merchandise
DART First State has announced DART’s Shop Delaware online store is open for business. All different types of DART merchandise are available, such as Rail to the Fair T-shirts, ceremonial coffee mugs, Trolleysaurus dinosaurs and many more items. Shoppers should go to DartFirstState.com, click on the link to Shop Delaware, and start shopping. New merchandise will be added periodically. Partnering with the state of Delaware provided DART, Delaware’s bus, train and intermodal transportation provider, the opportunity to open an online store. TGIF offers free dessert to moms May 11
In an unprecedented move it its 43-year history, T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants announced it will treat mothers across the United States to a free dessert with the purchase of an entrée on Mother’s Day. “Mothers are always special guests at Friday’s,” said Mike Archer, president and chief operating officer of T.G.I. Friday’s USA. “This day is about Mom. We invite Mom and her family to have fun, experience great food and drink and at the end, Mom receives a special treat from Friday’s - a free dessert.” According to Archer, moms may be offered one of the following mini dessert shots: orange cream, rocky road or chocolate chip mint.

Beach Bumz to host fundraiser for quilter
Beach Bumz is heading a fundraiser for local quilt maker Carol Wallace. Wallace, who donates 400 handmade quilts every year to children’s hospitals, veterans’ hospitals, homeless shelters and cancer centers along the East Coast, needs community support in order to continue her misson. Wallace will be at Beach Bumz, where her quilts are regularly on display, from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 10, to sell a few of her quilts. They are moderately priced at $15 to $20. Proceeds from the sale of these quilts will help defray the cost of materials for the quilts she donates. Beach Bumz is located on Savannah Road in Lewes near Lewes Pizzeria. Short’s Marine to hold boat clinic May 3
A free do-it-yourself clinic on how to get a boat ready for spring will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 3, at the Ocean Pines Country Club. Short’s Marine factory-trained mechanics will offer information about coverage for boats, pontoons, personal watercraft, outboards, inboard/outboards and trailers. The clinic ends with an open session for questions and answers. Materials will be handed out to attendees to take home to help while they get their boats ready for spring. Restaurant Week set for May 4-10 in Rehoboth
During Rehoboth Beach Restaurant Week, set for Sunday through Saturday, May 4-10, more than 20 restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe menus for $30 or $20 during the week. Foreclosure, mortgage help available May 7
Understanding the foreclosure process, learning about adjustable rate mortgages and refinancing, and updates on federal programs and state resources will be discussed at two upcoming meetings. The meetings are geared for those seeking information on foreclosure and services. The first session will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, at Delaware Technical & Community College in Georgetown. The second will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 19, at NCALL Research, 110 S. Chamber helps keep voters informed
The Delaware State Chamber of Commerce recently introduced a new tool to help keep its members informed in the election year. The GA Business Report Card tracks how the 143rd and 144th General Assemblies voted on business-related legislation. This information is posted on the state chamber’s website at www.dscc.com. Click on “Government Affairs” and then click on “GA Business Report Card.” The GA Business Report Card will be updated throughout the legislative session.
