Danielle Chavez will be offering a series of paintings and photographs of Cape Henlopen State Park in an exhibit at the Biden Center in Cape Henlopen State Park. The exhibit is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, through March 31.
Chavez is an emerging, self-taught artist born in Wilmington. She admires art and bold colors, and began experimenting with painting and photography as hobbies in 2002.
Creating unique birdhouses for fun led Chavez to enter her creations in the 2003 Arden Fair in Arden.
In 2004, she began selling her uniquely painted mailboxes, photo cards, birdhouses, glassware and switch plates in local stores and at fairs.
In 2005, she began painting on canvas with water soluble oils and exhibiting her paintings in local fine art shows and galleries. Living near Lewes, she loves the beauty and peace of the ever-changing colors in the ocean and sky in the afternoon and evening. Her current collection of oil paintings includes scenes of Cape Henlopen State Park, the Delaware Breakwater Lighthouse and the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse.
Her photographic subjects range from wildlife to the seascapes and landscapes of Delaware.
Many of her photographs are featured on the state of Delaware’s website, www.delaware.gov. In addition to selling her photos as blank greeting cards, she is beginning to have them printed on stretched, gallery wrapped canvas.
The artwork can be purchased by contacting Chavez at info@daniellechavez.com or 302-382-6049.
She has agreed to include an annual park pass as a gift to each person who makes a purchase at the show.
Contact the Biden Center at 302-644-5005 for more information.
