The Lower Delaware Autism Foundation (LDAF) is collecting new and gently used educational toys again this holiday season to benefit children with autism throughout southern Delaware.
Children with autism have learning and developmental deficiencies. With educational toys and assistance, children with autism can learn to overcome some of their developmental challenges.
Educational toys for any age may include Lead Pads, animal or science picture books, Macintosh software such as Thinking Things, Millie’s Math House, Kidspiration, Successmaker or Bugdom, Pixters and Pixter games; elementary level board games and card games, sensory toys, new release G-rated VHS and DVD videos, electronic games, CD/DVD players, children’s books on tape, Dora the Explorer and Blue’s Clues toys, play tents, art supplies, K-Nex building toys, atlas map books and globes, Quantum Pad games, Little People toys, farm and zoo sets, Thomas the Tank Engine Toys, wooden puzzles and regular puzzles up to 100 pieces.
New toys and books can be purchased at stores such as Kids’ Ketch in Lewes and Pitter Patter Children’s Store in Bethany Beach. New and gently used educational toys can be dropped off at Beitzel Cabinet and Millwork in Rehoboth; Millville United Methodist Church; and John F. Kleinstuber & Associates Realty Office in Fenwick Island.
Cash donations can be made in puzzle-piece donation banks located in the following business: All Atlantic bookstores and Good Year Tire in Clarksville.
