Rehoboth’s Business Network International (BNI) Chapter III, founded in December 2006, is one of the fastest growing BNI chapters in the Delaware Valley Region. With 33 members, Rehoboth Beach BNI President Josh Morimoto says the group’s rapid growth results from so many newcomers moving to the area. “The purpose is to help generate referrals for their businesses. Word-of-mouth referrals are the best way to generate business,” said Morimoto.
Just this past Wednesday, May 9, two new members joined the chapter’s ranks.
Members come from four industry clusters: home improvement, business support, real estate, investment and legal-support, and personal services.
Each business has only one representative, said Morimoto of Sea Coast Realty. “Anyone can join as long as their seat is not filled,” said Morimoto. “The majority of members are business owners and sales people,” Morimoto said. “It’s good for those who have no contacts or those who are new to the area.”
Members are given the opportunity to provide 30-second commercials on their business and 10-minute presentations to the group. Those who present also give away door prizes. Members also have time for one-on-one meetings with each other to explain their business in detail, help other members generate referrals and create life-long relationships, said Morimoto. In addition, special chapter projects include trade show booths, joint mail-marketing and sphere-of-influence presentations. BNI has more than 5,000 chapters worldwide in 36 countries with over 100,000 members. For Rehoboth, three officers head the chapter and lead meetings, which are held Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at La Rosa Negra restaurant, 1201 Savannah Road in Lewes.
