Possum Point Players to stage
'Little Shop' beginning April 4

Rehearsals have begun for Possum Point Players’ spring musical “Little Shop of Horrors.” Tickets are currently on sale for this popular show, opening Friday, April 4, and closing Sunday, April 13.

Directed by Kenney Workman of Milford, the cast consists of a diverse group of talent.

Paul Janiga of Dover plays the flower shop owner, Mr. Mushnik, and the shop assistants Seymour and Audrey will be played by David Button of Rehoboth Beach and Mary Boucher of Millsboro, respectively. Don Megee of Georgetown has been cast as Audrey’s boyfriend Orin. Moving the storyline along are the three girls Chiffon, Crystal and Ronnette. They are being played by Alison Erskine of Georgetown, Carissa Meiklejohn of Milford and Constance Johnson of Bridgeville. Rounding out the cast are Claudius Bowden of Georgetown as “Audrey II,” Joey Portal of Georgetown as Bernstein, and Christian Auer of Laurel as Patrick Martin. Jim Hartzell of Georgetown and Sierra Spicer of Laurel have double roles. Hartzell plays Skip Snip a talent agent and a customer, and Spicer will be Mrs. Luce, the Editor’s wife and a customer.

Assisting Workman in bringing the show together are Musical Director Melanie Bradley of Lewes with Assistant Musical Director Liz Messick of Laurel, and Choreographer Aimee Voshell String of Seaford. Workman and Voshell String most recently collaborated at Possums on the musical “Chicago.” Bradley and Messick worked together last fall on the musical “Pirates of Penzance.”

“Little Shop of Horrors” has been one of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time. The music by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken is catchy and entertaining. The popular and successful film version of the show brought the musical spoof of old sci-fi movies to the masses years ago, and it continues in its popularity.

Tickets are now on sale by calling the Possum Ticketline at 302-856-4560. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 4, 5, 11 and 12, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 6 and 13. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $17 for seniors and students.
