Rehoboth's annual fireworks to blast off on July 4th

Once again, plans call for a section of beach along the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk adjacent to the Star of the Sea condominium to serve as the shoot site, with the Friday, July 4 fireworks display easily seen up and down the beach. Fireworks vendor Zambelli, often called the First Family of Fireworks, will be back in Rehoboth again this year to launch the display.

As in previous years, the fireworks are set to go off at approximately 9:15 p.m. The rain date is the following night, Saturday, July 5, with the show visible from Dewey Beach to north of Rehoboth.

There will be entertainment at the Bandstand Pavilion at 8 p.m. prior to the show with the Volunteers of the U.S. Army Field Band performing. Following the fireworks, back by popular demand will be The Funsters, a classic rock band that had thousands of people gathered around the Bandstand, some of them dancing on the Boardwalk and in the street. The Funsters are sponsored in part by Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats

As in previous years, it is strongly advised that people not drive into downtown Rehoboth for the display. There will be plenty of shuttle buses, including additional DRT buses and it will be easy and prompt getting into down and back out again. Shuttles are available at the Park & Ride lot and the field adjacent to that lot, visible from Route One. Buses will make continuous loops through the lots, taking passengers downtown and returning them to their cars following the fireworks.

The Jolly Trolley will drop off and pick up riders at the uptown trolley stop on Christian Street, behind Jack Lingo Realtor. The trolley will operate 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. with a revised route and schedule between 6 and 11 p.m., due to Rehoboth Avenue closure.

Access from Route One onto Rehoboth Avenue into town will be shut down at about 9:30 p.m. (about the time of the fireworks) to allow traffic and buses to exit the city after the event.

The buses will pick-up and discharge outside the municipal building on Rehoboth Avenue as well as across the street. The Jolly Trolley will drop off and pick up behind the library.

Since the fireworks are funded entirely by donations from individuals and businesses, Main Street would like to invite people to make a tax-deductible donation. Donations may be sent to RBMS Fireworks, P.O. Box 50, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
