Lotus Chiropractic opens on Anglers Road in Lewes

Dr. Krista Brackett celebrated opening her Lotus Chiropractic practice with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception July 9. Located in the Hotel Blue commercial complex on Anglers Road in Lewes, the practice emphasizes a healing process symbolized by the water-based lotus flower.

“The roots of a lotus flower are embedded in muddy water,” states information on Brackett’s website.

“The strong stem will grow up toward the surface to unfold a pristine flower that appears to float above the water. The humble origin of the lotus flower might not seem capable of producing such a captivating blossom, but the outcome can differ greatly from the origin. This illustration of the inseparability of cause and effect is a guiding principle for the healing process we utilize at Lotus. Our healing intention is to restore balance and harmony within the body so each person can function at their highest level,” states the website.

The Lotus Chiropractic facility includes a brightly lit reception area overlooking the canal. Examination and treatment rooms feature detailed graphics of the human body, which she uses to explain the location and origin of problems and proposed approaches to healing.

Brackett graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a bachelor of arts degree in health and human services and earned her doctorate from New York Chiropractic College. She has held licenses in New York, Florida, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Prior to creating Lotus Chiropractic, she practiced in Jacksonville, Fla., for three years and Bryn Mawr, Pa., for seven years. Originally from Rockland County, N.Y., she has chosen to make Lewes her home.

Brackett, according to her website, uses a comprehensive approach to evaluating patient needs.

She searches for the root cause of a problem and treats it at the source, so it can be healed, not just controlled. Each patient will be treated according to his or her specific condition and circumstances; there are no set treatment plans.

The type of treatment and frequency necessary will be determined at every visit and is based on each individual’s progress.

“I use a systematic approach to identify areas of the body that may not be functioning optimally. These weaknesses can lead to pain and predispose one to injury. When the body is balanced it is pain free and strong. I work to balance the body,” said Brackett.

“I use combinations of joint mobilization, traction, fascial release and low-level laser therapy. I use the Erchonia Laser, which is Food and Drug Administration-approved for decreasing pain and inflammation and increasing range of motion.”

Her patients range from newborns to the elderly, and she also has experience treating pregnant women.
