The second annual Paddlin’ for the Bays Kayak Poker Paddle will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Bayfront at Rehoboth community to benefit Inland Bays restoration projects.
The event is sponsored by the Center for the Inland Bays, Rosemark DesignBuild and Quest Fitness, and proceeds from the event will go to support habitat restoration projects in the Inland Bays watershed.
Following the paddle event, there will be a cookout for participants. Prizes will be awarded for the best poker hand and the best overall time in both the single and tandem kayak categories. The event is open to all ages and experience levels and for those who have never kayaked before, staff will be on hand to give a basic lesson on kayaking.
A limited number of kayaks will be available for rent the day of the event on a first-come first-serve basis.
For those who register before Aug. 16, the cost is $20 for single kayaks and $30 for tandems. The registration fee the day of the event is $25 for single kayaks and $35 for tandems.
The registration fee and any donations are tax deductible and the rain date will be Sunday, Aug. 17. The Bayfront at Rehoboth community is located on Camp Arrowhead Road, off Route 24 at Peddler’s Village. “We had a great turnout last year and I’m looking forward to seeing more participants this year,” said Eric Buehl, the Center’s Habitat Coordinator. “We have several projects in need of funding and we’re pleased to be working with two great sponsors, Rosemark DesignBuild and Quest Fitness.”
