Dover Downs Hotel & Casino will host a charity cook-off event featuring University of Delaware Coach K.C. Keeler and Delaware State University Coach Al Lavan at 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11, in the Rollins Center.
Coach Keeler will compete on behalf of UD for The Boys & Girls Club of Delaware, and Coach Lavan will compete on behalf of DSU for the IMPACT Delaware Tobacco Prevention Coalition.
The event will be taped live on the studio set of “Dover Downs is Cooking” in front of an in-studio audience.
Admission is free.
Coaches Keeler and Lavan will each prepare and present two dishes, and their individual entries will be tasted and judged.
Michael Waite of Wilmington radio station WJBR 99.5 FM will serve as the color commentator during the show, and members of the band and cheerleading squads from both universities will also be participating.
Admission to the charity cook-off is free and seating is general admission.
Guests may make donations for the university charities at the door.
With the expert guidance of Chef Fred Bohn, “Dover Downs is Cooking” showcases cooking sessions with a variety of celebrity guest stars.
Special guests in the past have included NASCAR drivers Kasey Kahne, Jamie McMurray, Michael Waltrip and Sterling Marlin, as well as Herschel Walker, Ed McMahon, Sinbad, Fred Stokes, Diamond Rio, Tom Jones, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Paul Anka, Hot Apple Pie and stars of The Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch.”
