East Coast Garden Center will offer free gardening classes from September through December. Participants must register for classes either at the center or by calling 302-945-3489. A question and answer period follows each class.
• Tuesday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. Composting by Mark Browne. Participants will learn how to make compost in their own backyard.
• Saturday, Sept. 27, 10 a.m. - Fall planting of trees and shrubs by Al Manni. A nurseryman for many years, Manni is an expert on the planting and care of shrubs and trees.
• Tuesday, Oct. 7, 10 a.m. Creating a colorful fall container by Karen Fox. Fox will teach some of the lessons of compatible plants and designs.
• Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. Interior decorating with house plants by Bill Fenters. With winter approaching now is the time to bring some plants indoors and spruce up the home.
• Tuesday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. Native plants by Mark Bowne. Participants will learn the advantages of using native plants and will offer recommendations on which plants are best.
• Tuesday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. Create a lovely arrangement for the Thanksgiving table.
• Tuesday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. Create a holiday wreath. Participants will make their own wreath to take home. There will be a cost for materials.
• Tuesday, Dec. 16, 10 a.m. Decorate an urn for an outdoor holiday decoration. Participants will create an outdoor decoration to take home. There will be a cost for materials.
