Pull up, plug in and park.
A new campground outside Milford has a community pool and clubhouse, wireless internet and satellite television access, and picnic tables at each site.
Cedar Creek Landing campground, off Route 1 in Lincoln on Brick Granary Road, is the only full-service park in Delaware, said general manager Bill Marconi. The park opened in May and all the facilities, including a camp store and laundry facilities, were built in January, Marconi said.
The park offers recreational vehicle (RV) three-point hookup, including water, sewer and electric connections, he said. Cedar Creek Landing is also listed in “2008 Trailer Life,” the bible for RV owners and travelers, Marconi said.
The park is the only camping facility in the state to receive the “Good Sam Club” rating issued by the publisher. It’s an award which recognizes select RV parks represented by red, good Samaritan stickers many RV owners place on their bumpers.
“To be in the book, you have to be a full-service facility with great amenities and service,” Marconi said.
From May 1 to Nov. 2, Marconi said, the park welcomes all RVs, including motor homes, trailers and fifth-wheelers, or homes that are towed on the bed of a flatbed truck.
Marconi said 87 sites are open today and the park is about one-third full. By next May, he anticipates 200 more lots operating at full capacity.
He said owners decided to open the park in Sussex County because no new full-service camping parks have been opened in Delaware in two decades.
“It’s very much needed. A few parks have been sold for land use and houses,” Marconi said. “The owner thought it would be great to bring more people and more revenue to Delaware,” he said.
Marconi said most visitors come from the Mid-Atlantic region. “For Pennsylvania people this is their beach,” he said.
The park offers a variety of packages, including side-by-side premium sites, 40-by-65-foot lots, which back up to woods. Regular sites are 40-by-50-foot deep lots that back up to each other. The park offers seasonal, monthly, weekly and weekend rates. “We’re just off the beaten path where you don’t get traffic. There’s peace and quiet. We’re not like some of the places near Rehoboth where it’s just bedlam,” Marconi said.
