Gallery One will host a watercolor workshop starting Oct. 8 with award-winning artist Sonia Hunt. The workshop will run from 1:30 to 4 p.m., on four consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 8. The gallery is located at 117 Atlantic Ave. across from Lord Baltimore School in Ocean View. The workshop is open to the public. The cost is $100 per person.
Sonia Hunt is originally from England and now lives in Lewes. She found watercolor delightful from the time she picked up a brush and loves to teach and get someone else as excited as she is about the medium.
The workshop will encompass various techniques in watercolor, which will be demonstrated by the instructor. Basic color mixing and composition and design will also be taught and demonstrated. Beginners are welcome. Call for additional information on supplies.
Hunt has won numerous awards, the latest being first prize in the category Cityscapes at the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society Summer Exhibit held Memorial Day weekend at the South Coastal Library. She is a member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, Millsboro Art League, Rehoboth Art League and the Ocean City Art League. She is also a member of Gallery One and exhibits her work with 15 other artists at the gallery.
Hunt is also teaching at the Southern Delaware Academy of Lifelong Learning where she has been an instructor for the past five years. She has also hosted workshops at the Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, the Millsboro Art League and in Milford.
Founded by a group of local artists, Gallery One is open year-round. The gallery is staffed by the artists and the artwork is changed frequently. For more information, call 302-537-5055 or visit www.galleryonede.com
